John K to wash up at Encounters

Animated Encounters has announced the special guest for its Desert Island Flicks session this year will be John Kricfalusi.

The session, which is supported by Imagine Animation, is one of Encounters' most popular events. The structure of the thing runs thus: Famous names (which have previously included Matt Groening and Tim Minchin) discuss the animations they’d most like to be stuck on a desert island with).

John Kricfalusi, or John K, is a Canadian-born animator with a long and varied career. He is best known for his work on The Ren and Stimpy Show. Other animations he has worked on include Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures, The New Adventures of Beany and Cecil and Tenancious D’s musoc video for Fuck Her Gently. 

Other sessions taking place during the four-day festival include Shelley Page’s Eye Candy, in which the Head of International Outreach at Dreamworks puts together some of her top picks, focus on Studio AKA, featuring a personal insight from Philip Hunt, and A Million Love Songs, a selection of animated love songs from Laurent Million.

The 'Desert Island Flicks' session with John K is 8pm - 9:30pm - Thursday 17th November at the Arnolfini.
