Cartoon Forum 2010

British animation will play a leading role at the event, reflecting the UK animation industry's current strong momentum and its influence on the rest of Europe. British companies presented 7 of the 63 projects selected (and 2 others in co-production), tying it with host country Hungary for second place behind France with 20 projects.
The list of companies from UK selected for Magyar Cartoon Forum includes Blue-Zoo Productions, Calon, Foley Associates, I Can Fly, Karrot Entertainment, Lynchpin Productions, Random House Children's Screen Entertainment, The Bonga Bonga Film Company, The Illuminated Film Company and Walker Books Limited.
A 20 percent rise in projects submitted this year reflects the increasing vitality of European animation. Of 110 files received, 63 have been selected from 19 European countries. The projects represent some 360 hours of animation and have a total budget of over 160 million EUR.
In addition to the presentation of these projects, Magyar Cartoon Forum will also host the Cartoon d'Or 2010 award for best European animated short film, a prize that has helped promote new sector talent since it was created. The Cartoon Tributes for television - which elects the best producer, broadcaster and investor/distributor of the year - will also be awarded in Sopron.
